The story of Adyar Ananda Bhavan (AAB) Sweets and Snacks is one of hard work and perseverance.

A small store that was started by KS Thirupathi Raja in 1988, taking on the prefix ‘Adyar’ to its name because of the locality, has now grown into India’s largest food chain to offer a variety of sweets, snacks, pure-vegetarian restaurants and party halls, milk, ice creams, vegetables and fruits, bakery, confectionary, and millet food. The company opened several new outlets in the span of 10 years. In 2001, the management was handed over to KT Venkatesa Raja and KT Srinivasa Raja, sons of Thirupathi Raja. In 2004, the brothers, chipping in sheer hard work and expertise, expanded the business to start A2B — a line of restaurants. Since its inception, the company, has over 120 outlets in India, with branches in Chennai, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mysuru, Coimbatore, Puduchery, Ooty, Salem, Erode, Karur, Namakkal, Trichy, Madurai, Vadipatti, Thanjavur, Nellore, and on all the major highways across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Over the years, the company has evolved into a large chain of stores and restaurants by strictly adhering to quality standards and good customer relationship practices. “We are prepared to go that extra mile to fulfil our pledge. We do not compromise on the quality of food, and this accounts for the fact that we have the large customer base in South India,” says Srinivasa Raja

In line with the times, the chain has introduced a range of millet snacks and food. This range is prepared using substitute ingredients, without altering the inherent taste of the recipe. Processed sugar is substituted with jaggery, palm sugar or honey, and rice products are substituted with millets that are good energy supplements. A few select outlets in Chennai also serve millet meals during lunch, and snacks in the evenings.

The chain has started A2B Greens that offers best in quality exotic fruits and vegetables. For now, only 4-5 outlets offer this service, and will expand soon. The aim is to offer an enjoyable family experience where you can eat and shop for not only food, but also fresh vegetables and fruits.

The group has established itself as a food service provider with unsurpassed quality and taste. It has now initiated free home delivery of their sweets and restaurant food in select branches. It has recently opened its outlets in USA (Texas and New Jersey), and two more outlets in Kuwait. There are also plans for outlets in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The brothers are always excited to explore new avenues and introduce new divisions. With the new-gen entrant Vishnu Shankar, Venkatesa Raja’s son, as the director, the company is bound to see some innovative changes and success, as the result of hard work.
